Environment

Gosford Regional Community Services is very proud of our commitment to the Environment.

We are passionate about protecting our natural environment and maximising learning opportunities for our community through Workshops and Open Days, Works Experience, Student Placements and more.

Our three major projects are:

  • The North Gosford Wyoming Community Garden
  • The Wingello Creek Tributary Regeneration Project
  • The Gosford Community Sustainability Project

North Gosford Wyoming Community Garden

Our Community Garden was the Winner of the Best Waterwise Garden award in the 2015 Gosford City Garden Competition and hosts regular workshops and open days for members of the community to get involved. Garden beds are made available to members of the public for a low annual fee and we provide assistance and support where needed. We run a wide range of classes and workshops covering all aspects of natural gardening techniques.

The Wingello Creek Tributary Regeneration Project

Our Creek Regeneration Project is bringing Wingello Creek back to life. The difference in the area since we started this project in 2012 is amazing with thriving native plants along the creek bank. Stage 1 was completed in 2015 and Stage 2 is underway.  The local fauna, including a small wallaby population, are loving the new environment. Our Waterwatch activities are open to the public and the information gathered is used by the Community Environment Network.

The Gosford Community Sustainability Project

Our Sustainability Project will kick off in 2016 with workshops and a drop in Centre. This project is all about reusing existing materials and reducing the amount of waste that goes to landfill.
